« No matter if a medicine is ancient or modern, as long as it brings healing;

It does not matter if the theory is Eastern or Western, as long as it is fair and just »

Veterinary Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an oriental medicine that is more than 4000 years old, and is a science based on traditional Chinese principles. Having proven itself over many years, it is a holistic and integrative medicine that seeks to stimulate homeostasis and healing in the body and boost the Vital Energy flow , when it is blocked or slowed down. Under the law governed by the Order of Veterinary Doctors of Quebec, only veterinarians are authorized to offer complementary medicine care to animals.

How does it works?

The principle is based on fine needles which are inserted into small areas of the skin called “acupuncture points”, in order to produce a healing reaction. Each acupuncture point has specific actions when stimulated. Acupuncture influences inflammatory mediation, releases muscular and facial tension and provides pain management. Endorphins are released to provide a calm state of mind, relief and analgesia. Different techniques can be used: dry needling, aquapuncture, moxabustion or electro-acupuncture.

What conditions can be treated with acupuncture?

Any animal can benefit from a treatment regardless of condition, age or situation. It can be used as a curative treatment as well as preventive care. It is about the individual who is being treated and not the disease. Here are some examples where acupuncture can be used: musculoskeletal conditions (osteoarthritis and dysplasia, etc.), gastrointestinal diseases, respiratory diseases, Immune-mediated disorders, reproductive disorders, etc.
